Forgive Us Our Trespasses

Today I was reflecting on the line from the Lord’s Prayer: “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.” And it hit me—this isn’t just a Christian teaching. This message belongs to every path, every people. It’s not about doctrine—it’s about humanity. Forgiveness isn’t a religious obligation; it’s a spiritual necessity. If we want to be forgiven, we have to forgive. That’s how we heal. That’s how we reconnect with whatever name we call the Divine.

No matter your faith—Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Hindu, or simply spiritual—this truth is universal. If we hold onto anger, we stay stuck. But if we let go and forgive, we return to something greater than ourselves. To me, that’s real religion. That’s real spirit. That’s Truth.
