Kdenlive: This Stoner’s Secret Weapon

Hello Reader,

I’m Xucaen, your Budding Budtender, your Student of the Stoner arts. Thank you for stopping by. I’d like to share my recent experience with a video editing tool. I created two versions of a video, both under 30 seconds long, using a video editor called Kdenlive. This open-source editor is impressive. It’s not as complicated as some of the other software available, making it a great option for users who prefer simplicity without sacrificing functionality.

In the past, I used Sony Vegas Studio HD 11, which is quite old and sometimes struggles with modern video formats. More recently, I tried Microsoft’s Clipchamp and made several short videos with it. While I enjoyed using Clipchamp, it requires a subscription for saving projects and accessing essential features. In contrast, Kdenlive is free and open-source—I highly recommend supporting the developers with a donation. It’s user-friendly, fast, and renders videos beautifully. Most importantly, it allows me to save project files, which is a huge advantage. This means I can revisit and edit my projects whenever new ideas come to mind, which is exactly what I did today.

Today, I took a clip from a stream I saved about a week ago and imported it into Kdenlive. I was baked, as usual, and edited together a funny moment just to familiarize myself with the editor. Later, I thought of something funnier, and thanks to Kdenlive’s flexibility, I was able to open the project, make the changes, and save it. Both versions of the video are now posted.

Kdenlive is exactly what I needed to make my videos look, well, like actual videos! It’s fast, easy to use, and free. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do. Here are the videos I mentioned. Let me know which you think is funnier.

Warm regards,
Xucaen
