When the Birds Sing Before the Sun

Ever wonder why birds start chirping at 5:00 a.m., long before the sun even breaks the horizon? I was thinking about it, and it hit me — maybe birds sing because, in their little bird brains, they don’t know for sure that the sun is coming back. Every night might be the last. But then… it does come back. And so they sing. They celebrate. Every single day, they greet the dawn like it’s a miracle.

And honestly, shouldn’t we all be so lucky? If humans thought the sun might never rise again — and then it did — we’d probably be the happiest living things in the universe. But we forget. We get used to it. We take the miracle for granted. Maybe the birds are just wiser than us in that way. Maybe joy doesn’t come from certainty — maybe it comes from surprise, from awe, from recognizing the light when we didn’t think we’d see it again.
